Some of the most prestigious universities in the U.S. are sliencing their students and infringing on their first amendement as hundreds of students protest against the Palestinian genecide.
The AP reports, “schools struggle with where to draw the line between allowing free expression while maintianing safe and inclusive campuses.
Columbia Univeristy and NYU both took to arresting students protesting the univeristies in
“Harvard has shown us time and time again that Palestine remains the exception to free speech,” the Palestine Solidarity Commitee at Harvard wrote in a statement. Mayor Eric Adams has tweeted that he is “horrified and disgusted with the antisemitism being spewed at and around the Columbia University campus”.
Where is this outrage for Palistine? Where is the support from universities for islamaphobic or plain racism and bias towards Palistinians? Even reading these articles I notice the unequal language used when talking about both groups. As a college student, college has given me the tools and understanding to see the bias from the universities. Pro-Palestinian protesters are arrested after defying a deadline from NYU to the leave the area. In the same article NCB New York writes about Pro-Israel students counter protesting freely. It is disheartening for America, students and most importantly for the people of Palestine.

Thank you for emphasizing this important point. I wrote a similar piece in my blog and was disappointed but not surprised to read that the President of Columbia University, Governor of New York, and President Biden all condemned the protests as "antisemitic" with no regard to the concerns of Pro-Palestine students. Like you say where is the outrage for Palestine? It is so heartbreaking.
